As part of a project with Surfers Against Sewage we were asked to develop a concept for a music video to be used with their song ‘Voice of the Water’ in their upcoming pupil power assembly. 

Several groups took part in this project, and although ours wasn’t chosen, the two of us in a group had a lot of fun with it.



Surfers Against Sewage is a very hands on and environmentally based organisation so I thought we should create handmade animation as a base for the project.

It started with a spiral...



...That became a test animation of the logo. We were trying to fit the animation style to the lyrics of the song which you can listen to HERE.



This sparked an idea to transform the ocean into a character which became the basis for the video we created.

After finishing the animation idea, I decided to move onto something a bit different.

I used the character we developed and created a series of GIF animations with the water droplet doing various ocean-adjacent activities. This was after some feedback from SAS where they liked our character idea and asked us to develop a mascot of sorts.
